Carpet manufacturers asks for appointment of focal persons to resolve issues

Lahore: Chairperson Carpet Training Institute Pervez Hanif on Sunday  asked Prime Minister Imran Khan to appoint high-powered focal persons for effective links with local carpet industry regarding its numerous issues and make it sure that these focal persons submit their monthly reports to the concerned authorities for better result.

In an open letter written to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance Dr Hafeez Sheikh, Advisor on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood and Governor State Bank, Hanif  said that government had annulled the process of consulting stakeholders before carving out policies and due to this, the carpet industry faced irreparable loss.

He said they were constantly making hue and cry over the indifferent attitude of the concerned authorities in regard of solving their issues but no one is ready to pay attention on their problems.

Pervez Hanif said the government should avoid taking solo flight and resume the process of consulting the stakeholders. He said the issues of the export sectors would not be resolved only through announcements and statistics figures.

He said the government should take practical steps in this regard. “We have repeatedly informed the government and SBP about their issues but all was in vain”, he said adding “the export of handmade carpets is a pure technical issues and the concerned authorities are creating hurdles instead of solving their issues”.

He said the demanded the Governor State Bank to invite all the office bearers of the carpet’s association to listen their issues so that long term steps would be taken to solve these problems.
