Auto sales in September increased by18%

Lahore: The auto sales in Pakistan has once again initiated its journey towards growth at least on a month-on month-basis, the figurers revealed.

According to latest figures released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) on Monday, car sales rose 18% to 13,882 units in September 2020 against 11,724 units in the same period of previous year.

Sales of Indus Motor Company and Honda Atlas Cars registered increase of 106% and 87% respectively in September 2020 compared to the same month of previous year.

However, Pak Suzuki Motor Company’s (PSMC) sales declined 20% year-on-year due to a 37% drop in sales of Alto.

According to PAMA data, Indus Motor sold 4,365 vehicles in September 2020 compared to 2,121 vehicles in September 2019. Similarly, Honda Atlas Cars sold 2,710 cars during the month as opposed to 1,446 cars in September 2019.

Pak Suzuki Motor Company managed to sell 6,491 units against 8,157 units in the same month of last year.

On a month-on-month basis, car sales increased 19% in September 2020, the data revealed. Auto experts termed this rise due to improvement in disposable income on the back of revival of economic activity and lower auto financing rates in the country.

The increase was driven by Indus Motor with 32% month-on-month growth as sales of Yaris model swelled 42%.

Sales of Honda improved as well with 20% month-on-month growth on the back of 50% increase in BR-V sales.
